BMW 2013 M6 Coupe and Convertible

BMW 2013 M6  Convertible
The new BMW M6 models are high-performance sports cars and will set new benchmarks in daily driving comfort, innovative features and fuel efficiency. The 3rd generation,  BMW M6 will be offered as a 4-seat Coupe and Convertible.
On the outside, the M6 sports a new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a rear diffuser housing four chromed tailpipes and a newly designed M kidney grille upfront, bearing the “M6” badge as a homage to the first generation M6.

Inspite of its larger exterior dimensions ,  the M6 Coupe weighs in 1,850 kg (4,078lbs) and the Convertible, 1,980kg (4,365 pounds) as the roof is made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the coupe, whereas glass-fibre composite material SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) is used for the convertible  The doors and bonnet of both models are made from aluminium, and the front side panels from thermoplastic. Owing to these, the power-to-weight ratio of  the Coupe  is 7.3lb/hp  and 7.7lb/hp for the Convertible
Powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine with two twin-scroll turbochargers, it peaks  560 hp (412kW) between 5,750 and 7,000 rpm, and a torque of 680Nm (502lb-ft) between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm.  This S63Tü engine is mated to a standard 7-speed M-Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT) and BMW's Active M Differential which optimizes power transfer between the rear wheels and as such runs 0-100km/h (62mph) in 4.2 seconds for the M6 Coupe and 4.2 seconds for the Convertible with their top speed limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), or 189mph (305km/h) with the extra M Driver's package.

Acciording to BMW, the new engine has the highest output ever generated by a BMW M car,  producing around 10% higher output than the V10 engine of its predecessors and torque is up by over 30%. At the same time, fuel consumption and CO2 are expected to be reduced by approximately 30%.
BMW 2013 M6 Coupe
It features a specially tuned suspension, an M-specific Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering with three settings and a more powerful braking system with 15.7 inches (400 mm) rotors and six piston calipers at the front and 15.6 inches (396 mm) at the rear.  The M6 models sports a 19 inch M specific light alloy wheels shod in 265/40 R19 "ultra-high performance" summer tires in the front and 295/35 R 19 tires at the rear. BMW will debut the lighter Carbon-Ceramic brakes (42.8 lb lighter than the standard brakes) on the 20-inch wheels,  offered as an option

The Convertible will be the first to arrive in US BMW Center showrooms in June 2012 and the Coupe will arrive at the same in the late Summer of 2012 as a 2013 model
