The Lightning Rod concept based on eighth generation F-150 Ford pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the United States for 24 years as well as the best-selling truck for nearly 35 years, evokes the "passion of muscle cars of the 1960s, the hot rod industry and the current body art craze", in the words of the manufacturer
It is powered by a 5.4-liter SOHC V-8 engine, four-speed automatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic power disc brakes. Its looks comes with a shorter roofline, a raked windshield and hidden wipers. Two horizontal neon headlamps and taillights perfectly matches its Cherry red metallic paint .
A traditional tattoo of the native New Zealand Maori tribe covers leather-wrapped tonneau, and thr theme carries through to the leather bucket seats and headliner. Its five-spoke cast aluminum wheels carry radial tires with a tread pattern and nicely matches the maori theme
