Nissan announces world’s first self-healing iPhone case

world’s first self-healing iPhone case
The Scratch Shield paint finish developed by Nissan in collaboration with the University of Tokyo and Advanced Softmaterials Inc. is currently available on the Nissan Murano, 370Z and X-Trail, along with Infiniti models. Nissan says it has used  ABS plastic, a high grade material  in developing the Nissan Scratch Shield iPhone case to enable a more rigid, robust and tighter-fitting case.

Nissan says the trial now underway with an initial batch of prototype iPhone cases marks the first time its self-healing paint finish has been trialed on a non-automotive product in Europe.

The Scratch Shield paint is made from polyrotaxane, which has a chemical structure that is able to react and change back to its original shape and fill the gap that results from a fine scratch. Small scratches can heal in as little as an hour, while more severe scratches can take up to a week. Aside from its self-healing properties, Nissan says the Scratch Shield paint also provides a surface that is more gel-like and easier to grip than the glossy surface produced by conventional paint.
Nissan plans to release the cases compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S for sale to the public later this year.

Multi-Touch Keyboard and Mouse

Multi-Touch Keyboard
Multi-Touch keyboards and mice are the next generation in computer peripherals. These elegant well made devices are composed of quality tempered glass, a solid metal base, and the finest components. They are designed using simple existing technology and have no moving parts supported by a rechargeable Lithium Polymer batteries . The tactile sounds and lighting can be turned on or off per the users' preference
Multi-Touch mouse
The design is based on a touch screen technology known as FTIR or Frustrated Total Internal Reflection. There are basically infrared LEDs placed at the edge of the glass. In this case, they are hidden inside holes where the glass is mounted to the metal base. Because of the low angle at which the light impacts the internal glass surface, it is bounced around inside the glass, much like looking through a tube to see the reflections on the inside walls. When the glass is touched it frustrates the reflection and the IR light is diffused downward, out of the glass, allowing the camera to see it. Software then determines the location and sends the appropriate information to your computer.
